Coaches.

Frank Pipitone - Head Coach

Head Coach, Frank Pipitone, has been involved with diving for over 40 years as an athlete and coach. His coaching experience includes coaching at the youth, high school, club, and college levels. He has coached state and national champions, Olympians  and Olympic hopefuls. Coach Frank’s philosophy is that the process is more important than the results. The goal-driven process includes strong fundamentals as a base upon which a diver can add more difficult dives. In addition to his coaching responsibilities at Phoenix Dive Club, he is also the Dive Coach at both Brophy College Preparatory and Xavier College Preparatory.

When not at the pool, Coach Frank can be found pursuing his passion for aviation, golf, or the World Champion Chicago Cubs!

Youssef Selim - Guest Coach

Our sport requires a unique set of skills in a coach. Obviously an understanding of the mechanical aspects of our sport is very important; however, an ability to relate to and build trust with an athlete is even more important. It is these qualities that brings Youssef Selim to Phoenix Dive Club. Youssef, pictured here on the occasion of one of his multiple springboard and platform PAC-12 championship victories, recently graduated from ASU and is currently in graduate school.

Youssef is originally from Cairo, Egypt.  He is the first diver to represent Egypt in an Olympic games since the country's appearance in Los Angeles thirty-two years earlier. He finished as Africa's top-ranked springboard diver at the 2015 FINA World Championships to secure the country's Olympic berth for Rio 2016. Selim was selected by the Egyptian Olympic Committee to compete in the men's 3 m springboard at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro. There, he collected a total of 360.95 points to secure a twenty-fifth spot. Youssef has already qualified for The 2021 Olympics in Tokyo on platform and will be training to make another appearance on springboard.
